About Us

19th Police District Advisory Council is an organization, consisting of volunteers from the community who work along with local community organizations, residents, business owners, clergy and police officers to create a bridge between the police force and the neighborhoods they serve.

Our goals are to create, fund and support events that bring law enforcement and local communities together in ways that break down negative stereotypes. We strive to initiate dialogue and collaboration, causing movement from distrust, anger and misunderstanding to conversation, action and unity.  Friends of the 19th Police District Advisory Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the work of the 19th Police District Advisory Council, which bridges the gap between residents and the 19th Police District in Philadelphia to enhance public safety and strengthen community engagement.

Annual Dance & Drill Competition, Community Workshops (Domestic Violence), Job Fairs, Children Picture Day, MLK Day Clothing & Household Items GIVE-A-WAY, Black History Month Exhibit, Family Fun Days, Easter Egg Hunts, ART Camp, Book Bags Give-Away, National Night Out, Trunk or Treat, "Haunted Hallway" at Halloween, and "Coffee with a Cop" are just some of the annual events at the 19th District.  Events are filled with music, laughter, conversation, dancing, jumping rope, water slides, dunk tanks, coloring food and much, much more!

Also, the Summer Monthly Community Block Meetings and "Coffee with a Cop" – where the local community are able to sit down and have an open forum to discuss a myriad of issues or a simple chat with the Captain and police officers over coffee (provided by the officers), Holiday Party (for local children), Secret Santa & Thanksgiving Dinners, Blood drives, and more help to provide positive experiences between the officers and the community; building a level of trust that support the systematic use of partnerships and problem-solving techniques to proactively address the immediate conditions that give rise to public safety issues such as crime, social disorder, and fear of crime.

We are here to build a bridge between the 19th Police District and the community, and that bridge can only stand if it is built on trust, cooperation, hard work and communication.  Let’s build!
